Welcome, I am Gabriel (they/them), a philosopher based in Berlin, currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Philosophy at the Technical University of Dresden. Before that, I taught Critical Theory at Goethe University Frankfurt and completed my PhD at the University of Essex, where my dissertation Social Disorientation: A (Critical) Phenomenological Study developed a socially embedded and politically sensitive phenomenological theory of social disorientation – arguing that the failure of orientation is located not in the individual, but in interpersonal and social relations.

My research combines phenomenology, social and political philosophy, the philosophy of emotions, and the philosophy of agency to examine phenomena of crisis, exclusion, and marginalisation. I am currently developing a political phenomenology of powerlessness, with a particular focus on how experiences of powerlessness bear on questions of normativity, critique, and political agency under conditions of oppression.
